Good News, Everyone!
I hope you’re reading this! Yes? Good!

First: BIG AND HEARTY THANK YOU TO CERBERUS PUPS WHO HELPED KEEP THINGS GOING!!! You see, The Heavenly Bride has almost went down more than three times in the past 12 months alone due to financial duress. I didn’t want to ask for help, so I didn’t do a fundraiser… but some folks pulled through for me anyway. This last fundraiser was had because we’re so close – SO CLOSE – to seeing better days and more updates, and circumstances were going to stop it. So THANK YOU!

I’ve actually had the first page of Chapter Nine in the works for quite some time. I’m hoping to make it animated. I have the animation sequence complete. I can’t get things to render in a way that makes me happy. It’s not a big animation; just a few frames. But it’s big for me. I love animation, but I don’t get to play with it often. So this page is a stepping stone.

If you’re a Pup that remembers Akashik, I have some news on that end. I normally would give this sort of news on my blog, and I probably will eventually. But I want your input, if you’re willing to give it. And for those that don’t remember Akashik, don’t worry. I’m a verbose person. Here I go. (Or if you can’t be bothered to read it, just skip to the end for the point of the update.)

Of the two stories, Akashik is the more important one. It has a definite plot, a lot more humor, and hopefully tons more color. The Heavenly Bride *does* have a plot, in case you haven’t guessed it, but it also has a more slice of life feeling. It’s a prequel after all.

You know, not even my husband reads my stuff anymore. Imagine how disheartening that is. When I get communication from a reader, I’m like a hungry starving zombie robot. INNNPPUUUT. If I get no input, I tend to start malfunctioning. So I was heartbroken when I had to take Akashik down. I hadn’t been able to work on it for I think a full year because of our financial situation at the time. I never got any feedback from any readers when I was able to work on it… What I mean to say is I NORMALLY didn’t get feedback.. . (dodging angry reader fireballs)… it was a complete failure, or so I thought.

To my surprise, taking Akashik down got a reaction from you normally silent Pups. I got emails expressing regret. And then a few months later, I got emails from people begging me to please bring it back. Most recently someone was willing to accept stick figures, if only I’d return to the story.

So listen, guys. Akashik isn’t gone forever. I said this 2 years ago, I’ll say it again. I’m just doing a very smart thing. It isn’t that Akashik is gone. It’s reboot is under construction. The real hold up for me speeding it along is, well, The Heavenly Bride and our financial situation. While I have to work overtime to the point that HB barely gets my time, I don’t have anything left over for anything else. It’s a very vicious cycle.

So here is where I am at with Akashik itself:

  • The script is underway. It’s not as far as I’d like but it’s underway.
  • I have a few side stories planned that are also tied to Akashik. One is 99% complete and almost ready for production. I’m calling it The Brat.
  • Speaking of The Brat, I’m considering releasing it as a visual novel. It wouldn’t be anything fancy – just another stepping stone for me as I polish up some skills and work to improve. Also, making it a visual novel might speed its production along.
  • Boulder on the other hand is going to be a comic, probably housed here and seen by those that aren’t Pups only in the chapter book of Heavenly Bride.
  • I have other plans, but in order to see things done I’m trying to keep my focus to a small field.

What do you think! Tell me!
